Please note the room has changed.\nThis seminar is accredited for 1.5 hours of continuing legal education by the Quebec Bar (activity no.100 75992).\nAgenda\nDomestic legislation and policy remains one of the most e ffective means of protecting the rights of persons with disabilities and f acilitating social change. The passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990 was a watershed in its guarantee of equal opportunity and non- discrimination in education\, employment\, health\, and access to justice for persons with disabilities. The legislation inspired other jurisdiction s to draft their own disability rights laws\, such as the Ontarians with D isabilities Act in 2005\, and served as an example for the drafting of the CRPD.\nThis event will provide an opportunity for students\, professors\, and educators to discuss proactive approaches to implementing ongoing leg al and policy developments in the areas of disability and human rights.\nA bout the series\nTo explore some of the advances\, challenges\, and questi ons\, the CHRLP is pleased to present its 2013-14 seminar series on select ed issues of human rights and disability law. The series builds on the the mes explored in the CHRLP’s successful 2012-13 seminar series\, entitled “ Disability\, Human Rights and the Law.” We offer this series to continue t o engage in one of the most compelling human rights issues of our day\, co nsistent with the Faculty of Law’s tradition of analysis\, scholarship and promotion of human rights and social justice. The events will follow the format of a teaching seminar and required resources will be circulated ahe ad of time.\nSpace is limited\, so kindly RSVP to chrlp.law [at] mcgill.ca to secure your spot. Lunch will be provided. \nInformation: https://www.m cgill.ca/humanrights/events/disability-seminar-series DTSTART:20140127T173000Z DTEND:20140127T190000Z LOCATION:NCDH 202\, Chancellor Day Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 1W9\, 36 44 rue Peel SUMMARY:Proactive Approaches to Inclusion: Legislative and Policy Developme nts URL:/channels/event/proactive-approaches-inclusion-leg islative-and-policy-developments-230362 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
