A d istinguished figure in neuroscience\, Herbert Jasper pioneered the use of electroencephalography (EEG) a technique that he largely introduced to Can ada and helped to develop into an essential neuroscience tool. In collabor ation with Wilder Penfield\, Jasper employed EEG to find the source of sei zures in epilepsy and in other brain disorders. Together they wrote scient ific papers about the brain's functional anatomy that had widespread influ ence. Jasper died in 1999.\n\n\nTo attend in person\, register here\n\nTo view the lecture online\, click here\n\n\nPatricia Janak\n\nBloomberg Dist inguished Professor at Johns Hopkins University\, United States.\n\nAbstra ct: The experience of a reward\, such as the ingestion of food\, is accomp anied by dynamic patterns of neuronal activity across many brain regions. For example\, reward ingestion is often accompanied by brief increases in spike activity by dopamine neurons\, amygdala neurons\, and neurons in the basal ganglia. I will discuss studies that illustrate different approache s to understanding the behavioral functions of this reward-elicited activi ty\, with a focus on reward signals that promote reward-seeking behavior. \n DTSTART:20240312T200000Z DTEND:20240312T210000Z LOCATION:de Grandpre Communications Centre\, Montreal Neurological Institut e\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2B4\, 3801 rue University SUMMARY:Herbert Jasper Lecture: Brain Processes for Evaluating & Learning f rom Rewards URL:/neuro/channels/event/herbert-jasper-lecture-brain -processes-evaluating-learning-rewards-353148 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
