The talks will highlight the latest advances and discoveries in neuropsychology\, co gnitive neuroscience\, and neuroimaging.\n\nSpeakers will include scientis ts from across The Neuro\, as well as colleagues and collaborators locally and from around the world. The series is intended to provide a virtual fo rum for scientists and trainees to continue to foster interdisciplinary ex changes on the mechanisms\, diagnosis and treatment of brain and cognitive disorders.\n\n\nTo watch online\, click here\n\n\nRole of Dopamine in Dec ision Making and Cognitive Control\n\nAbstract: Dopamine has long been imp licated in the cognitive control of behavior. Cognitive deficits are commo n in disorders that implicate dopamine\, such as Parkinson’s disease\, add iction\, ADHD\, and depression\, and such deficits are often treated with dopaminergic drugs. Roshan will review recent studies in which her team ha ve combined pharmacological interventions with neuroimaging and computatio nal modeling to unravel dopamine’s role in behavioral control. Results sug gest key contributions of striatal dopamine-dependent changes in lower-ord er learning and decision parameters to changes in higher-order cognitive c ontrol. The work also illustrates how computational model-derived inferenc e of striatal dopaminergic learning parameters can help predict changes in clinically relevant behavioral control problems including impulse control disorder in Parkinson’s disease.\n\nRoshan Cools\n\nProfessor of Cognitiv e Neuropsychiatry\, Donders Institute for Brain\, Cognition and Behaviour & Department of Psychiatry\, Radboud University Medical Center\n\nRoshan C ools is Principal Investigator at the Donders Institute for Brain\, Cognit ion and Behaviour and Professor of Cognitive Neuropsychiatry at the Radbou d University Medical Center. She is an expert in the chemical neuromodulat ion of human cognition and motivation. Her PhD is from the University of C ambridge (UK)\, where she held Royal Society research fellowships and did a postdoc at the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute at UC Berkeley. At the Donders\, she steers an active research group (www.roshancools.com)\, com bining psychopharmacology\, fMRI\, chemical PET imaging\, computational co gnitive modelling\, neurostimulation and patient work to unravel how behav ioral control strategies are adaptively tuned to our constantly changing e nvironment\, modulated by the major ascending neuromodulators\, including dopamine\, serotonin and noradrenaline. She holds a Horizon Europe ERC Adv anced grant\, is a lead scientist of the Human Brain Project\, and is a me mber of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).\n DTSTART:20250127T180000Z DTEND:20250127T190000Z LOCATION:VIRTUAL SUMMARY:[VIRTUAL] Feindel Brain and Mind Seminar Series: Role of Dopamine i n Decision Making and Cognitive Control URL:/neuro/channels/event/virtual-feindel-brain-and-mi nd-seminar-series-role-dopamine-decision-making-and-cognitive-control-3627 31 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
